MANCHESTER UNITED VS SOUTHAMPTON | PREMIER LEAGUE

The Premier League returns this weekend with Southampton hosting Manchester United in the first fixture following the international break. United will travel to the south coast for the Saturday lunchtime kickoff, with manager Erik ten Hag under growing pressure after a shaky start to the season.

The Red Devils have lost two of their opening three matches, a disappointing run that began with a 1-0 victory over Fulham but quickly soured. A 2-1 defeat to Brighton was followed by a humbling 3-0 loss at Old Trafford to fierce rivals Liverpool. Ten Hag will be desperate for a response as United look to get their campaign back on track.

One bright spot for United is the arrival of midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain. The Uruguayan signed for an initial fee of £42 million and could provide the stability and energy the midfield has lacked in recent outings.

Meanwhile, Southampton's return to the top flight has been nothing short of disastrous so far. Russell Martin’s side has lost all three of their games, failing to pick up a single point. Southampton's struggles began with a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle, followed by a home loss to Nottingham Forest by the same scoreline. They at least found the back of the net in a 3-1 loss to Brentford but will need significant improvement to avoid further trouble.

Both teams will be eager to turn their fortunes around in what promises to be an intriguing contest.
